ASG UK are proud to have been involved in the successful delivery of a new Modular MRI facility for the Radiology Department at Gloucester Royal Hospital, delivered in partnership with TClarke Healthcare for Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The project showcases how modular technology and expert collaboration can expand diagnostic capacity with minimal disruption to existing patient services.

Project Brief
As part of the installation of a new Modular MRI System for the Radiology Department at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, TClarke Healthcare appointed ASG UK to deliver specialist automation, access control, and CCTV systems to enhance security, efficiency, and patient monitoring within the new facility.
ASG UK was responsible for:
- Automatic Entrance Doors: Fully automated main entrance doors to ensure smooth and secure access, supporting DDA compliance and infection control measures.
- TDSi Access Control System: Secure access control integrated into the Trust’s existing infrastructure, providing staff access management and full system interoperability.
- CCTV System: A compact, high-definition CCTV network allowing staff to discreetly monitor patient activity within waiting areas, improving safety and patient oversight.
Design & Specification
Automation Specification
Label UK’s NEPTIS Plus SLT swing door operator was specified for the main entrance automation. They key features of the NEPTIS PLUS SLT are:
- Safety and compliance: With fire-rating and compliance to EN16005, it helps meet regulatory and safety requirements.
- Enhanced longevity and reliability: The brushless motor avoids wear from brushes, reducing maintenance frequency and downtime.
- Low energy consumption: Reduced power draw makes it more efficient and cost-effective in continuous-use environments
- Accessibility and integration: Supports sensor triggers, access-control integration, and safe manual override — important in healthcare settings for infection control, accessibility and secure environments.
Access Control Specification
TDSI GARDiS was specified for the access control to ensure seamless integration in to the existing access control network across the wider hospital. TDSI are market leading manufacturers of innovative access control solutions with over 40 years of experience at the cutting edge of the access control industry.
CCTV Specification
Hikvision was specified for the CCTV installation to provide reliable, high-definition video monitoring. Hikvision is a global leader in video surveillance technology, renowned for its innovative, high-performance solutions that deliver exceptional image quality, intelligent analytics, and dependable operation in demanding healthcare settings.

Installation & Delivery
Working closely with principal contractor T Clarke Health Care, ASGUK delivered a coordinated multi-phase installation programme that integrated seamlessly with the wider construction schedule. ASGUK’s flexibility and 30+ years of expertise in healthcare security and automation were essential in achieving a smooth, on-time delivery. The phased methodology allowed the team to adapt to site conditions as the project evolved, ensuring the final solution met both operational needs and healthcare compliance standards.
The new Modular MRI System has significantly boosted the Trust’s diagnostic capacity, reducing patient waiting times and improving workflow efficiency. Delivered on time and with minimal disruption to clinical operations, the project stands as an excellent example of collaborative, forward-thinking healthcare infrastructure development.
