Access Control & Automation Install
The new IGIS Hub at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital has established a 24/7 hub for image guided interventional surgery, comprising of interventional radiology, vascular surgery and interventional cardiology.
In 2023 the programme saw the construction of two new state of the art operating theatres incorporating an Interventional Radiology (IR) theatre and ultra-clean environments designed to deliver up to 500 air changes an hour. The flagship IR theatre enables the Vascular team to perform procedures using live camera image guidance which removes the traditional need to make large, open cuts and instead allows the surgeon to perform surgery via a small ‘keyhole’.
Project Brief
Working under principle contractor Beard Construction and main contractor Neptune Building Services, ASGuk were instructed to deliver an access control and automation solution for 12 specialist healthcare grade doors. This involved design specification, 1st fix, 2nd fix, network integration and end user training.
A unique set of automation requirements needed to handle heavy lead lined doors in an environment containing up to 500 air pressure changes per hour called for specialist, expert design.
Design & Specification
ASGuk worked closely with Neptune Building Services to develop comprehensive specification drawings which allowed partnering trades to effectively provide suitable enablement works ahead of scheduled 1st fix works. These detailed and accurate drawings enables us to successfully complete the 1st fix wiring ahead of schedule, positively contributing to overall project 1st Fix completion ahead of schedule.
ASGuk’s flexibility and adaptability meant that we were able to complete 2nd fix installation around other trades, overcoming potential challenges and delays with minor adjustments to ensure that project delivery was never compromised.
The access control system was seamlessly integrated into the trust’s existing access control network seamlessly and full user training was provided as part of the client handover process.
Label UK NEPTIS PLUS SLT swing door operators were specified for the automaton of both single and double door sets. The key features of the NEPTIS PLUS SLT swing door operators are:
