Aluminium & Automation Design Installation
Active Lifestyles Leisure Centre, located in the heart of Dursley, is a thriving community hub offering a wide variety of leisure activities, fitness classes and pool facilities for local residents and visitors from further afar.
In October 2024, the centre underwent a significant refurbishment, including upgrades to its poolside changing rooms and reception areas with the aim of enhancing functionality and user experience to meet the growing demand for leisure facilities in the local area.
Project Brief
ASGuk were instructed by Stroud District Council to design and install an automated door solution with the objective of created a division between the swimming pool and changing rooms while accommodating a redesign and refurbishment of the existing change rooms.
The project have a tight and rigid timeframe which saw the whole install completed in 2 days, during a planned week long leisure centre shut down.
Design & Specification
The initial design process saw ASGuk meet with SDC, architects and other trades associated with the changing room/pool refurbishment. Following the design meeting ASGuk was able to specify the most suitable solution which in this case was a bespoke aluminium, automated sliding door finished with specialist anti-corrosion paint.
The aluminium was designed and finished in such a way that it matches the existing poolside aluminium doors and windows.
The compact design of automated door allowed us to contribute to improved space efficiencies within the changing rooms, helping SDC achieve their high priority objective of increased locker capacity.
A Label UK Eterna 90 Slide Operator was specified for this project. The key features of an Eterna 90 Slide Operator are:

- Customisable finish – including RAL colour and anti-corrosion paint.

Installation & Delivery
Our 30 year’s of experience of automation and bespoke aluminium installation enabled us to delivery this project on time and on budget, 5 days before the leisure centre was due to re-open.
The new automated sliding door provides seamless access between the swimming pool and changing room while creating a clear division between the two spaces. The reconfigured changing room area now offers a more inclusive and efficient space, accommodating higher visitor numbers while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
ASGuk is proud to have been a part of the refurbishment works to such important community hub within Dursley and the surrounded areas continues. The leisure centre is now better equipment to continue to serve the community effectively for years to come.
